CCSD Students Advancing to State Writing Competition
Five Cherokee County School District students are advancing to the state level of the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition!
The annual writing contest is open to students in grades kindergarten through 12 and provides an opportunity for schools to encourage writing in a variety of genres. Each CCSD school submits a top entry for each grade level to compete at the district level. District first-place winners then advance to the regional North Georgia Regional Education Service Agency contest for the opportunity to compete statewide.
The CCSD students who won first-place in the regional competition and are advancing to state competition are:
Grade 1: Eve Alsobrook of Clayton ES for “The Lost Dog”
Grade 2: Wren Argo of Boston ES for “My Sport in Time”
Grade 5: Elli White of Clark Creek ES STEM Academy for “Reflection Collection”
Grade 8: Ellie Cosgrove of Woodstock MS for “Excerpt from ‘To the Stars’”
Grade 9: Monica Ramirez of River Ridge HS for “I Admire the Leaves”
CCSD students earned five of the 13 grade-level honors for the region and also earned three of nine honorable mentions.
The CCSD students who won honorable mention in the regional competition are:
Grade 4: Megan Rolfes of Indian Knoll ES for “The Magical Necklace”
Grade 10: Southern Moss of Creekview HS for “Innocence”
Grade 11: Eric Dogini of Cherokee HS for “The Game of Life”
