CCSD Begins Kindergarten, New Student Registration for 2023-24 School Year
The Cherokee County School District is beginning kindergarten and new student registration for the 2023-24 school year with a new online registration system.
The Synergy system is easy to use and similar to the previous Gateway system that CCSD parents with older children have used. Beginning March 7, parents of any student who will be new to CCSD for the 2023-24 school year can enter information and upload documents to complete the registration process online. Parents are asked to complete this process by May to ensure as smooth an enrollment as possible. Parents whose children already are enrolled in CCSD in grades K-12 do not need to complete this process.
The simple online registration process avoids the need for a lengthy visit to the school front office as well as paper and copying costs. Synergy also will be used beginning March 7 for any students who are moving to CCSD this school year— be sure to select the correct school year when registering. The transition to Synergy’s online registration system is the first step to CCSD using Synergy as its student information system, with plans to offer a parent portal feature next year. ParentVue (the parent portal function of Synergy’s student information system) will be available to our parents in August 2024.
To use the Synergy registration system, parents can set up an account at https://bit.ly/registerccsd; you can complete the process using a laptop, tablet or smartphone. You will need to have your own email address to use the system. You also will need to have emergency contact information and specific records ready to complete the process; you can see a detailed list and more guidance online here. If you do not have all the required records on hand, you can start the online registration process, save your progress and then complete it when you have the remaining records. If you need assistance with registration, please contact the front office of the school your child will attend.
The Synergy registration system also gives parents the option to begin other services for their child, such as applying for the free and reduced school meal program and alerting the school of their child’s medical needs. Applying for free and reduced meals begins July 1 for students who are registering for next school year.
Once parents complete the online registration, they will receive an automated email notifying them their process is complete. After the school reviews the provided information and documentation, its staff will send a follow up email to let the parent know if any additional documents are needed. Parents also can log into the Synergy registration system any time after completing their child’s enrollment to check the status of their student’s application by clicking on the Status tab at the top of the page.
The school also will notify parents of new kindergarteners about when they can come in for a readiness assessment. The school will notify parents of all new students about open house/meet and greet events, which are held in late July.
Children who are turning 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2023 may be enrolled in kindergarten in Georgia; children who are turning 6 on or before Sept. 1, 2023 are enrolled in first grade. A school-based placement committee, which includes the child’s parents, will review requests for a child who will turn 6 on or before Sept. 1, 2023 to instead attend kindergarten. CCSD also offers a PreK program; the application window for the 2023-24 school year lottery is March 20 to noon March 31, with more information to be posted soon on CCSD’s website.
