Celebrating School Board Member Kelly Poole!

It’s School Board Appreciation Week, and we’re so grateful for our amazing Cherokee County School Board!  A high-performing school district begins with a high-performing school board … and our board is incredibly dedicated to elevating the excellence in its governance.  Each day this week, we will share one School Board member’s thoughts on three questions.

School Board Member Kelly Poole, District 1

What do you love most about serving on our School Board?
I love being in the classroom to see the amazing things our students are learning and on the stage at graduation.  This past week, I had the opportunity to read to Christie Sanders’ kindergarten class at Sixes Elementary, and in May, I plan to attend every graduation ceremony.  These two events really showcase the potential of our students along their educational journey -- from the beginning to their final chapter with CCSD.

What about our school district makes you the proudest?
I am proud of the amazing professionals who make up the CCSD family.  From our custodians to our Superintendent, we have a team that truly takes pride in their responsibilities and performance.  In addition, I am proud that CCSD graduates want to return home and work, live and play in Cherokee County.  I am joyful when I walk into a school and see familiar faces that were former students and friends of my children who have chosen to return, because they want to make a difference.  That really speaks volumes to what CCSD means to our students and their families.  We truly are fortunate to have such a dedicated group of individuals in our students’ lives.

What about our school district’s future is most exciting to you?
I am most excited to see the fruition of the work that the board and district has started on increasing student achievement.  Some of the measures that have been started are geared towards providing adequate, high-quality resources to be used both in the classroom and at home and creating goals for English language arts and math.
